Paper Cut (2009)

a lonely secretary remains in the office after all the others have gone home. From her little corner, using photos from old film magazines, she escapes into a world of daydreams. There she is a glamorous movie star from the 1940's and finds her ideal love at last. But as the story unravels, as imagination and reality collide, her romantic tale becomes a Hitchcock nightmare!

Inspired by American cinema and the Hollywood stars of the 1940's, this one woman show reveals the obsessions and dangers of romantic fantasies. The language of black and white cinema is transformed to the “low–tech” universe of paper cut-outs and object theater, creating a tension that is absurd, painful and humorous.

This performance was created by Lior Lerman and Yael Rasooly, with the support of the Train Theatre (Jerusalem) and the Rabinovitich Foundation for the Arts.

It was awarded the Diploma of distinction from UNIMA ,The World Puppetry Organization, (August 2010), Winner of the Grand Prix and the “International Festival for solo Puppeteers” in Lodz, Poland (April 2011), and is regularly performed in festivals around the world.
